Warehouse Management System

A warehouse system is judged on one number: how often the count on screen matches the count on the shelf. Everything else — receiving, putaway, picking strategy, replenishment, returns — exists to protect that number. Zelpex builds and extends warehouse systems for operations where the standard configuration has stopped fitting, and where the cost of being wrong is a stockout or a customer refund rather than a support ticket.

We build custom WMS modules, integration layers to ERP and carriers, and the mobile scanning interfaces pickers use all shift. That last part decides adoption: an interface that takes an extra second per pick is an interface staff will find a way around, and once they do the data stops describing the building.

  • Receiving, putaway, picking and packing flows built around your layout
  • Barcode and RF scanning interfaces designed for gloves and poor signal
  • Cycle counting and reconciliation that finds drift before a customer does
  • Carrier, 3PL and ERP integrations with retry and exception handling
01

Walk the floor

We follow goods from the dock to dispatch and watch where staff deviate from the documented process. Those deviations are usually rational, and they are the real requirements.

02

Model locations honestly

Zones, bins, capacity and pick paths get modelled as the building actually works, including the overflow area nobody wants to admit exists but everybody uses.

03

Build for the scanner

Handheld interfaces get designed for one-handed use, gloves, bright light and patchy Wi-Fi, with offline tolerance so a dead zone does not stop a pick.

04

Cut over in phases

New flows go live zone by zone or category by category, running in parallel where it matters, so a problem affects one aisle rather than the whole operation.

What warehouse teams ask us

Configure a commercial one if your operation is broadly conventional — the mature products are good and cheaper than building. Custom earns its place when your fulfilment model is unusual, when you need deep integration with a bespoke ERP, or when licence costs at your volume exceed the cost of owning software.

With measurement, not features. Cycle counting and reconciliation against the ERP will show where drift enters — usually a specific process step, often returns or a manual adjustment path. Fixing that is frequently cheaper than any new system, and you need the baseline anyway.

Partially, and it should. Picking and scanning can queue locally and sync when the connection returns; anything touching allocation across users cannot safely go offline. We define which operations degrade gracefully and which must block, rather than pretending the Wi-Fi is reliable.

What we focus on

Accuracy at the shelf and speed in the hand. Everything in a warehouse system serves one or the other.

We work with operations teams rather than only with IT, because the constraints that matter are physical — where the packing bench is, how far a picker walks, what happens at the returns desk on a Monday. Software that ignores those gets worked around within a fortnight.
