On-chain components only earn their place in a store when they do something a database cannot: prove an item's provenance across companies that do not trust each other, or let a loyalty balance be verified outside your own systems. Zelpex builds those components into working commerce — and keeps them invisible to the majority of customers who neither know nor care that a chain is involved.
We add crypto checkout, tokenised loyalty and verifiable provenance to Adobe Commerce, Shopify, BigCommerce and Medusa storefronts. The constraint we design around is that the ordinary path must stay ordinary: a customer paying by card should never encounter a wallet prompt, a gas estimate or a confirmation delay.
Every component has to answer why a database would not do. Loyalty points redeemable only in your store do not need a chain; a certificate a resale buyer must verify independently might.
The card path stays untouched and fastest. On-chain features are additive, so a wallet failure or a congested network never blocks an ordinary purchase.
On-chain events map to orders, inventory and accounting entries in the systems finance already uses, rather than living in a parallel ledger nobody reconciles.
One product line, one market or one customer segment first, so the operational load of supporting crypto is understood before it applies to the whole catalog.
It should not, and if it does the implementation is wrong. Crypto payment is an additional option presented alongside cards, not a step everyone passes through. We design so that the on-chain path can fail entirely without affecting anyone paying by card.
Only in specific cases — when customers should be able to trade or verify the balance outside your ecosystem, or when several partner brands need to honour the same balance without one of them owning the ledger. For a single-brand programme, a database is cheaper and easier to change.
Partially, and it is important to be clear about the limit. The chain guarantees a record was not altered after being written; it cannot guarantee the record was true when written. Provenance is only as good as the process that captures it, so we design the capture step first.
If a database would do the job, we build the database. The chain has to earn its complexity.
That test removes most proposals, which is the point. Where it survives — cross-company provenance, portable loyalty, verifiable authenticity for high-value resale — we build it into your existing platform rather than beside it, so operations and finance are not running two parallel systems.
