Infrastructure work is mostly invisible until it is not. Zelpex takes on infrastructure for teams who have outgrown running it informally but do not need a full-time platform hire yet.

We handle provisioning, deployment pipelines, monitoring, backup and restore, and the operational routine around them. We also take over estates configured by someone who has since left — which usually starts with documenting what actually exists, because the diagram and the reality have generally diverged.

Document what exists

We inventory the running estate — services, dependencies, credentials, expiry dates — because inherited infrastructure almost always contains something nobody knew was load-bearing.

Remove the manual steps

Anything currently done by hand at deploy time gets scripted. Manual steps are where outages come from, particularly when performed by someone covering for a colleague.

Rehearse the recovery

Backups are restored into a scratch environment and timed. An untested backup is a belief, not a capability, and the difference becomes apparent at the worst possible moment.

Hand over the routine

Runbooks, dashboards and alert definitions are written for your team, so day-to-day operation does not depend on us being reachable.

What teams ask us about infrastructure support

That is a common starting point. We work from what is running rather than from what was intended, map dependencies and credentials, and produce documentation as the first deliverable. It is unglamorous and it is usually the highest-value week of the engagement.

Probably not. It is excellent for genuinely complex multi-service estates and considerable overhead for everything else. Managed container services or a well-configured platform host cover most teams' needs with far less operational weight. We would rather you spend that budget elsewhere.

Patching and dependency updates, monitoring and alert tuning, incident response within an agreed window, capacity review before known peaks, and the small changes that otherwise queue behind feature work. We define the scope in writing so it does not quietly become unlimited on either side.

What good infrastructure looks like

Boring. Deploys are unremarkable, alerts are rare and meaningful, and restoring from backup is something you have already practised.

We size this to the team we are working with. A ten-person company does not need the platform architecture of a hundred-person one, and giving it to them creates a system nobody can maintain. The right answer is usually the simplest thing that meets your uptime and compliance requirements.
