Shopify's constraint is also its advantage: a great deal is decided for you, and what is decided is usually right. Checkout converts, the admin is genuinely usable, and nobody is paging you about a patch. The work worth paying for sits at the edges — the custom app that connects the store to your ERP, the headless storefront when the theme layer stops being enough, and the migration that has to move ten years of URLs without losing rankings.
We build custom Shopify apps, Hydrogen and Next.js storefronts, and the integrations behind subscriptions, B2B and multi-market setups. On Shopify Plus we work with checkout extensibility, Functions and B2B company accounts. We will also tell you when an app from the store already does the job — paying us to rebuild something that costs thirty dollars a month is not a good trade.
We split your requirements into what Shopify does natively, what an existing app covers, and what genuinely needs building. The third list is usually much shorter than expected, and that is the point.
Products, inventory, customers and orders each need one system of record. We define which one, and what happens when a sync fails, before the first webhook is written.
Theme and app work happens in version control with review, not directly in the admin, so changes are traceable and a bad deploy is one revert rather than an archaeology exercise.
Migrations get a rehearsal against production data, a full redirect map and a rollback plan. Search traffic is the thing most likely to be quietly lost, and it is very hard to win back.
Only for specific things: checkout customisation, Functions, B2B company accounts, higher API limits and multiple expansion stores. If none of those are on your list, standard Shopify plus a well-chosen app stack does the job and the difference in licence cost is substantial. We would rather tell you that than sell a tier you will not use.
Usually not, and we say that often. Headless makes sense when the storefront has genuinely unusual UX, when content and commerce must live in one front end, or when you are serving several markets from one codebase. It does not make sense as a performance fix — a well-built theme is fast, and headless brings real infrastructure and maintenance cost.
Yes. We start with an audit: what is theme code, what is app-injected script, what is orphaned from an app uninstalled two years ago. Stores that feel slow are very often carrying scripts nobody is using. That audit is useful even if you decide not to work with us afterwards.
We build the parts Shopify does not, and resist rebuilding the parts it already does well.
Most of our Shopify work is integration and custom app development for merchants who have outgrown off-the-shelf but have no reason to leave the platform. That means we spend our time on ERP connectors, fulfilment logic and B2B rules rather than on theme pixel-pushing, though we do that too when it is the actual need.
Tell us what you are building and what is getting in the way. You will get an honest read on scope, approach, and whether we are the right team for it — including when the answer is that you do not need us.
